[L-USA] California Letterboxes

From: (D2jgmyers@aol.com) | Date: 1999-02-01 18:54:02 UTC-05:00
I'm a devoted rubber stamper how happened to stumble upon your site. What a
marvelous way to meld rubberstamping and a love for the great outdoors! The
only problem I can see is that there doesn't seem to be any letterboxes in my
home state of California! HELP! This would be such wonderful fun for my
family to enjoy - what can we do?

Janice,

Where in California are you? I'm in the Bay Area and plan to place boxes sometime soon in the future.

Linda Palo Alto, CA

Janice!! Where are you in CA? I left a letterbox to be placed by my
family. They have, so far, not been out to place the box... but I may
prod them into it soon. They are in Redding. I am visiting So Cal in 2
weeks and MAY get a chance to drop one down there. Will either of these
locations work for you?

Do what many of us have done...start constructing boxes! :) There are lots
of folks here to help with questions, etc. Just feel free to ask!

...and welcome to the group!

To Janice and Linda -
Yup, California's a whole lot bigger than most other states, but you
just gotta do it! Put a letterbox in the field and they will come
(eventually).

In some ways, I sort of like the idea of salting letterboxes all over my
state, long before it becomes well know locally, and then, sometime, off
in the future, someone does a human interest article about the hobby,
and, lo and behold, it is discovered that this crazy old man has been
way out there ahead of them, stashing these quizzical carvings
cryptically clued in crannies and crevasses, laughing to himself all the
way. The fool on the hill is as crazy as a fox.

Just do it. Someday, they'll be found.

Erik
